Reviving Traditional Arts
Whether it is a riveting piece of sculpture, a vibrant painting or elaborate bead work, traditional arts rank amongst the highest levels of artistic excellence, with a history that dates back thousands of years. We do know that even as far back as the stone age humans adorned their caves with paintings.
Traditional arts have fortunately stood the test of time-until quite recently. However, it is becoming apparent these crafts have shown a gradually declining trend since the 1970s. After thriving for centuries, many arts are now actually fighting for survival. Many artisans are living in penury and in a desperate bid to put food on the table have given up their core profession and moved into other more lucrative fields.
However, there is hope on the horizon. As concerned citizens we all need to play out part to protect these traditions from fading away and dying out. Therefore, we truly hope with this venture, we can really do our bit and leave the generations to come art tradition in all their exquisite forms.
